Metrostyle -- $15 off $15

What do you do when it's 1 a.m., you wake up for unknown reasons, and your cat refuses to spend any time with you?

1. Make The Big Fella's breakfast.
2. Make The Big Fella's lunch.
3. Refrain from making yet another dinner until The Big Fella eats through the (a) chicken and rice, (b) chicken parmesan, (3) corned beef and potatoes, (4) enchiladas with spanish rice, and (5) shepherd's pie. Did I mention it's only two of us humans in the house and that I don't eat meat?
4. Tell you about this Metrostyle code for $15 off a $15 purchase.

If you guessed all of the above, you win a prize.*

I know what you're thinking. What the !@#$% is Metrostyle? But, underneath all that skanky clothes and accessories are some cute items.

This is my fave on their site. I didn't buy it because

I

am

super

cheap.

If you buy it, don't tell me about how cute it is.

Look how unbelievably happy the model is. I could have been this happy.

Cuteness runners up include:

Does this not look magical? I believe it has healing powers.

Stretch Lace Turtleneck
$12.99
Available in Black, Ivory, Silver Metallic and True Red.

Yes, I still want to look like Stevie Nicks circa 1972...

...because, God help me, she is still my fashion idol for 27 years running.

Speaking of Bella Donna, I have a theory that whatever cultural influences you're exposed to by the age of 10 become a part of your identity so when you see them again as adults it's like finding a lost piece of you. That's why I don't blame a lot of 20 year olds for liking Green Day. If you're in your 30s though, you're on your own.

What were we talking about again?

Oh yes.

The code works on clearance items and shipping and handling starts at $6.99. That means you can get out of there for a total of eight bucks if you shop strategically. Yes, upon hearing the code was $15 off 15, I had to find something as close to $15 as I could. It's an illness.

Filigree Sandals
$15.99
Available in Gold Metallic, Black, and Mauve Berry.

Ruched Slingbacks
$16.99
Available in Black and Graphite.

Cabled Kabuki Sleeve Sweater
$16.99
Available in Bright Green and Bright Rose.

Zipper Clutch
$16.99
Available in Black, White, Yellow and True Red.

Braid Clutch
$16.99
Available, in Sunkiss, Posy, White and Black.

What do you do when you can't sleep?

*The prize is the leftover shepherd's pie. Sorry. Someone has to eat it.

After a busy morning in the land of irrelevant Supreme Court decisions, I needed some retail therapy fast.

Do you see that up there? $73.91 total. Shipped. Sweet sweet deity, don't I need this?

Apparently the answer to that question is no, according to the Big Fella. I called him and asked him if we should put a bench in the office. A what? A bench? Where? Against the wall where your drum set used to be. Oh, so you want to take your drum set out of your car and put it back in my beautiful house? Ok. I was just thinking that we could put the bench up against the bed we plan to put in that room and we'll use the Ottomans as "side tables." Oh, and we'll have lots of beautiful babies and I'll live in that room with the beautiful babies and the cats and you can sleep in our bedroom with Lulu. D'accord? Follow me....

Random cuteness: Ann Taylor edition

I opened an email from Ann Taylor today...

even though I am still suffering from total sale boredom,

even though it had no discount, no sale, and no code,

but telling me to "Give her what she really wants."

Yeah right, Ann. Great advice. I'll call you next time I'm wondering what to get someone, yearning for some more life-altering gems like that.

But, I'll be damned if they weren't right.

Behold the glory of the Faceted Glass Statement Necklace that was featured prominently in the email.

The statement you'd be making, by the way, is that you're
crazy for spending 158 bucks on this bad boy.

If I had this necklace I'd wear it every day, around the house, to work, for no reason at all. I'd wear it to the movies with a white tshirt and jeans. I'd wear it to clean the litter box.

All I need for a perfect Mother's Day is this necklace and some of this:

... and a husband who had a clue. A girl can dream....

Mario Kart on sale?!?!

I thought I'd never find a deal on Mario Kart for the Wii. And in two days I stumble on two sales.

GameStop has it on sale for $39.99. Code 10AUTO takes 10% off bringing it down to $35.99. Free shipping but tax brings it up to $39.14 for me.

Amazon also has it on sale for $39.99 with free super saver shipping.

So, what do you think? Should I get it?

Should I buy Mario Kart for the Big Fella for finishing finals?
Yes, he's worked hard and deserves it.
Yes, you should buy it, but you should give it to him for his birthday instead.
No, you should buy yourself a Michael Aram tray instead.
No, stop throwing your money away, you spendthrift.
Other, I'll let you know in the comments.

Gilt Groupe is having a Michael Aram sale.

It was another lazy day here in casa HBM. The Big Fella was out studying. The cats were settling in for a 12-hour nap. I was trying to convince myself to work on a paper and boring myself to tears with the uninspiring Mother's Day sales.

But then it happened. No, not that.

I found a Michael Aram sale....

And a reason to live...

Wisteria Service Tray. Small $48 (Retail: $120), Medium $60 (Retail: $150), and Large $72 (Retail $180). Don't these make fancy raison d'ĂȘtres?

Hosta Sugar and Creamer Set $48 (Retail: $95)

Click here for an invite to Gilt Groupe.

If someone can come up with a reason why I don't need those Wisteria trays, please let me know in the comments.

Epic flower deals

When I watch the new season of Tough Love, I think about how lucky The Big Fella is to have me.

Then I remind him how lucky he is to have me...

...especially on days like today when I score the world's best deal on the mother-in-law's Mother's Day present.

Bing has 30% cash back for several florists. When I saw that this morning, the wheels started turning. There was also a loud rusty grinding noise but I ignored that and forged ahead.

So, 30% cashback. Is it for Admin week or Mother's Day? I don't care. All I know is I got a historical deal on this bad boy.

Use code MDAYFREE9 to get $14.99 off on orders placed for delivery between Tuesday, May 4 and Thursday, May 6 (Mother's Day is Sunday, May 9).

*Applicable on select florist fulfilled gifts delivered within the United States. Items may vary BLAH BLAH BLAH. Offer available online and by phone. Offers cannot be combined, are not available on all products and are BLAH BLAH BLAH. Offer valid through 4/25/2010.

The great part of this deal is that Bing will give you 30% of the original price back. Shhh. Don't tell them.

So there you go.... you can be the world's best daughter-in-law. I didn't "take" The Big Fella's name so I'm not in the running. Wait 'til she finds out that my future kids are not going to "take" The Big Fella's name either. (I mean, "our kids." Ahem.)

Brian Chernick: Free ring with engagement to me

I saw this on one of the many "deal" web sites I'm on every day:

Brian Chernick: Free ring with engagement to me

For Stefanie Setlock of Atlanta, GA, only, Brian Chernick offers a free Marriage Proposal via coupon code "I DO". Plus, you'll receive a free engagement ring with your purchase. With free on-one-knee delivery, that's the best deal on marriage you've seen from Brian in eight years. It's also the lowest total price we've seen for any marriage proposal, excluding refurbs.

Features include having and holding, for better or worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, and till death do you part. No warranty information is supplied.

Update: Coupon code "I DO" has hit the maximum number of redemptions. SHE SAID YES! Congratulations to the happy dealcouple!

I LOVE blog proposals. This competes with the Bakerella and Pioneer Woman ones in heart-stopping cuteness. Big Fella, can you re-propose? If it's any incentive, I'll probably say yes.
